Barka is an extraordinary festive chaos, a celebration of life and a call to hope and responsible freedom. Barka offers a daring blend of circus, live music and dance, joyfully intertwined in a show full of delirious energy and a richness of sound, vision and sensory experience. We're all in a boat. Explorers, migrants or survivors, it doesn't matter, we're off. The journey has begun, each of us in search of our own dream. But we're all floating together in motion, as a big storm is forecast on the horizon. While the circus artists perform precise, virtuoso acts on the cyr wheel, corde lisse, Chinese mast, juggling and contortion, the constant interaction with the musicians adds to the sense of risk and constant precarious balance. Also, throughout the show, we get a taste of Latin America, and particularly of cumbia, which serves as a rhythmic base that accompanies the multiplicity of melodies that shape the work's soundtrack. Cumbia is also present as a choreographic language that inspires the collective movement of the artists on stage. Skirts and drums, brass and maracas come together, giving the work a distinctive color, making it festive and irresistibly inviting to the pleasure of dancing.
