Shepherds

Mathyas trades in his Montreal advertising life to become a shepherd in Provence.
But the harsh realities of the pastoral world force him to question his romantic vision of the profession. A meeting with Élise, a civil servant who has quit her job, gives a new direction to the young man's quest. Together, they set off on a transhumance with a flock of sheep in tow. Faced with the hardships of the mountains, they will forge a new life for themselves. Sophie Deraspe's (Antigone) latest film, shot in France, takes a delicate, intelligent look at the disillusions of the farming world, the beauty of transhumance, its traditions and the men and women who make it happen.
