With the show “Moi, ma mère me racontatait”, I offer you a journey from Yugoslavia to Vietnam, from Cameroon to Colombia, from Haiti to India, to return to Abitibi with an open view of the world.
I give the floor to my Abitibi-Immigra-tional compatriots who are each contributing in their own way to building tomorrow’s Quebec. I am talking about life, choices, departures, farewells, death and hope as well. Marta Saenz de la Calzada arrived in Abitibi-Témiscamingue in 1969. With a very rich artistic background, she gives herself entirely to the theatre, poetry and storytelling, which are at the heart of her life. As a storyteller, Marta participates in several editions of the Festival de contes et légendes en Abitibi-Témiscamingue and tells stories at numerous festivals in Quebec, Latin America and Europe. She was awarded the CALQ – Creator of the Year in Abitibi-Témiscamingue 2016, and the Charles-Biddle prize in 2019. Rediscover in the first part, Richard Fournier, emeritus member of the group Les Conteurs de la Lièvre.
