Librairie Babar En Ville
Description en anglais seulement.
Getting Started at an Early Age
We’re living in an era where babies are born with a joystick in one hand and a computer mouse in the other. But Babar Books remains one of the few strongholds in the battle against the digital age. With two locations in Westmount and Pointe-Claire, this family-run, youth-oriented bookstore is stacked with books that you’ll remember from your childhood, and ones that are destined to become modern classics. Both stores combine for a total of 40,000 books with great selections in English and French.
Book City
The key to any good bookstore is selection and the people at Babar Books know this. With an age range of 0-18, they’ve got you covered. Pop-ups, picture books, fairy tales, classics, series, non-fiction, graphic novels, mystery, fantasy – it’s all there and then some. You’ll see familiar names like Dahl, Munch and Seuss, next to current phenomena, like the Eragon series or that boy named Potter. Babar’s staff isn’t there to make some extra cash. They know and love their product and are always willing to recommend their favourites.
Use your Imagination
In addition to their seemingly endless library, Babar sells a gaggle of toys, costumes and games. Their specialty toys are mainly fair trade items from Africa, including stuffed animals from Kenya and tin animals made of recycled cans from Kenya. Arts and Crafts guides, card games, painting kits and more are all available for your active child. Babar is also an accredited bookstore, meaning it can sell to schoolboards. The owners go beyond what other bookstores have, visiting book and toy fairs regularly to find their specialty products. So in the war against computers, videogames and television, Babar uses no weapons. However, they do encourage kids to use the most powerful weapon of all – their imagination.
