Léa Pool

Born in Switzerland, Léa emigrated to Quebec in 1975.
Her first feature film, La Femme de l’hôtel (1985), was enthusiastically received by critics and the public. Several films followed, confirming Léa Pool’s original cinematographic approach and her important place in Quebec and Canadian cinema. To date, she has directed more than 15 feature-length fiction films and several documentaries, making her one of our most prolific filmmakers. Some titles: Anne Trister (1986), Papillon bleu (2004), Emporte-moi (1999), Maman est chez le coiffeur (2008), L’industrie du ruban rose (2011), La passion d’Augustine (2015), Et au pire on se mariera (2017). Since 1989, Léa Pool has received several tributes around the world, retrospectives of her films are presented in international festivals. Recipient of the Albert Tessier Award in 2006, Léa was named Chevalière des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of Quebec in 2022, in recognition of her exceptional contribution to our cinematography. Always active, she is currently finishing the post-production of Hotel Silence, which will be released in the fall of 2023.
