The creators use documentary materials, drag numbers and speeches by personalities of sexual and gender diversity such as Manon Massé, Safia Nolin, Judith Lussier and Monique Giroux to develop their stories. In this documentary theatre show, Geneviève Labelle and Mélodie Noël Rousseau take back lesbian clichés to reverse the dynamics of power. Will they be “scissors”? Will they be placing tablets? Will they eat pie with hair? The answer is yes. It is with an offbeat and benevolent humour that they want to patch up the story of celebs who came out of the shadows not so long ago. By diving into the complex and delicate matter of the Montreal archives of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, they quickly found that the history of people identifying themselves as women is unfortunately invisible and very little documented. By knocking on the doors of the guardians of an intimate and clandestine knowledge, they have made some very moving encounters and are eager to share their stories on the theatre stage, This place of all possible encounters where the point of view and history of these people have been put aside for too long. Scissors is a tribute to love. With this new show, Pleurer Dans' Douche promises a surprising, festive performance filled with humor and authenticity.
