Le gâteau du président
As the Iraqi population of the 1990s struggles to survive war and food shortages, the president demands that every school in the country prepare a cake to celebrate his birthday.
Despite her efforts to avoid being chosen, Lamia, nine years old, is picked from among her classmates. The young girl must then use ingenuity and imagination to gather the ingredients and make the required cake. The film won the Caméra d'Or (Best First Feature) and the Directors' Fortnight Audience Award at the most recent 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
