A must-see autumn musical event !
Led by Maestro Michel Brousseau, the 200 artists of the Société philharmonique du Nouveau Monde (SPNM) present a performance of Mozart’s Requiem in one of Montreal’s most breathtaking settings: the nave of the Basilica. Returning to the majestic Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal, the SPNM is delighted to continue this tradition for a 22nd year with its presentation of the sublime Requiem. Under the direction of Michel Brousseau, this concert will be performed twice only: on November 7 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. A musical gem by Mozart set within one of Montreal’s architectural masterpieces. The stage will feature over 200 artists from the SPNM orchestra and choirs, alongside guest soloists Ania Hejnar (soprano), Stéphanie Pothier (mezzo-soprano), Jean-Michel Richer (tenor), and Alexandre Sylvestre (bass).
A landmark work by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the Requiem continues to inspire great enthusiasm among music lovers. Conducted with intensity and sensitivity by Michel Brousseau, this masterful work—a tribute to the composer’s musical genius—promises to evoke a wide range of emotions.
The first half of the program will feature Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 (Elvira Madigan), performed by the young pianist Annie Lee, winner of the competition organized by the Steinway Piano Gallery in Ottawa.
