DLSSE presents robotic sound sculptures inspired by the dolos, a concrete block used to protect coastlines from erosion. Shaped from clay gathered along the banks of the St. Lawrence, their surfaces reproduce the relief of the seabed.
The sculptures rotate and resonate to the rhythm of maritime data. Inside, directional speakers diffuse a soundscape that blends digital synthesis with recordings of waterways captured across the seasons. A generative video evokes sunlight filtered through waves.
At the centre of the installation, a slab of unfired clay, engraved according to the same data, transforms over the course of the exhibition.
The work explores the resilience of matter and adaptation to climate change through the notions of perception, simulation and memory.
One work, one hour in private, by reservation.
