Klaus Scherübel. Venice 1968: The Biennale of Protest VOL. 30
Oct 8, 2026 - Dec 20, 2026
Fondation Guido Molinari Montréal, Québec

From October 8th until December 20th, 2026.
The Guido Molinari Foundation presents Klaus Scherübel. Venice 1968: The Biennale of Protest, VOL. 30, a research project dedicated to the 34th Venice Biennale of 1968, which was disrupted by major protests. Guido Molinari and Ulysse Comtois were the artists exhibiting in the Canadian Pavilion that year.
Curated by Marie-Eve Beaupré and Yun Wang, the exhibition looks back at an edition of the Biennale that took place against a backdrop of international political and social protests. In 1968, as student and labor movements shook many countries, the Venice Biennale itself became a site of confrontation: artists and students denounced an institution perceived as a symbol of nationalism, cultural capitalism, and the hierarchies of the art world. The curators have invited artist Klaus Scherübel to create an installation (Period Room) that will allow visitors to revisit the 1968 Canadian Pavilion.
