SIDERAL - Gravity Without Borders, Celestial Fields

Developed following Gilberto Esparza’s residency at Adélard in the summer of 2026, the installation connects an extraordinary meteorite that fell to Earth over 4,000 years ago, on loan from the Montréal Planetarium, to the church’s historic organ, allowing this extraterrestrial material to resonate throughout the building.

Bringing together art, science, technology, and the cosmos, SIDERAL – Gravity Without Borders, Celestial Fields invites us to rethink our relationship with matter, gravity, and forces beyond the human scale. The work challenges the boundaries that define our world while encouraging reflection on emerging questions about the ownership and colonization of space.

The installation is presented as part of An Assembly for the Cosmos, a large-scale collaborative exhibition taking place across multiple places, including Galerie de l’UQAM and MICA | Montréal Institute of Contemporary Art. It also builds on the longstanding partnership between Adélard and ESPACIO MÉXICO Montréal.
