Drawing inspiration from the concept of batarsité, coined by Réunionese poet and singer Danyèl Waro, Francbâtards takes its name from the diverse origins of its members: Quebec, Réunion Island, and Mauritius.
Deeply embracing this concept in their lyrics, the two singers Alex Paquette and Jérôme Léwa Cadet—of Quebec and Réunionese origins respectively—promote the uniqueness and universality that connect human beings and the world's many cultures. Having performed extensively in concert for over 15 years, including two European tours as well as appearances at several major festivals in Quebec and Europe, the band has quickly become known for its fiercely energetic and festive live performances.
