Enter Montreal's history through the front door and visit the first building in Quebec to be classified as a historic monument!
Built in the 18th century under the French regime, the Château Ramezay is one of the few surviving buildings from that era open to visitors. Selected as one of the 1001 must-see historic sites in a lifetime, the Château lets you relive more than 500 years of history, from Amerindian prehistory to the 20th century.

A must-see in Old Montreal, the Château Ramezay invites you to discover its rich collections through a variety of exhibitions, while the historical figures on the multimedia tour tell you (in six languages) about their life at the château.

Discover the sumptuous Jardin du Gouverneur, a typical example of an 18th-century urban garden in New France. Multilingual sound panels guide you through the vegetable garden, orchard and pleasure garden. Access and activities throughout the year are free of charge.

Discover the evolution of Château Ramezay with this multimedia tour. Accompanied by Claude de Ramezay, Gilles Hocquart, Benjamin Franklin, Lady Whitworth-Aylmer and many others, you'll enjoy the stories, big and small, of this century-old building.
